how your gratitude practice might be holding you back

be ruthless, bloom.

i know, not what you might’ve come to expect from me in terms of messaging

but bear with me —

because your ability to see the cup half full may be holding you back or keeping you stuck

not always, but maybe right now

just like it’s been doing for me

you see, i’m generally all about the grey areas, middle spaces, and nuances of understanding

it’s also very natural for me to see upsides in down times, to recognize lessons delivered in hardship, and to genuinely find joy + beauty even in challenging messy spots

plus, i believe in actively looking for them (though never at the expense of your real feelings + experience)

one of the things that makes me such a great cheerleader for others is my ability to really, truly understand how easy it is to mess up, how conflicting emotions can splinter actions, and how life is rarely made up of simple rights + wrongs

(to be clear though… free palestine + fuck genocide)

i love these qualities of mine + value them deeply

AND… they may be making me a little too comfortable with staying stuck where i’m at

you see, there are a couple areas in my life right now that i think can benefit from a little less ruth, a little more ruthlessness

“ruth,” meaning: compassion, pity, remorse (related to the word “rue,” to feel sorrow or regret) —

another day i’ll write about the way those feeling states keep us down
(here’s a start)

but today, i want to talk about how my ability to understand when shitty things happen might be keeping me from reaching something better, how the same might be true for you, and how mustering up some ruthlessness can help

when you embrace an intuition-driven lifestyle (and bring it to your business), you learn to follow your own rhythms + set your own pace

and it frees you to see that you’re NOT a chronic procrastinator

you DON’T thrive under pressure —

you just don’t let it crush you

and just because you kill it when you play by other people’s rules doesn’t mean those rules are right

it doesn’t mean you won’t reach higher or go deeper when you start playing, really playing, by your own

but iterations take time, lessons are learned both fast + slow, and you’re fighting culturally-fortified currents at every other turn

the ability to see gifts in challenges can save you in this space

and there may come a point when it immobilizes you instead

where staying calm in the midst of a setback usually keeps you in the game, suddenly it starts to keep you settling for less than the success you know is meant for you

where weathering the storm has been your saving grace, you find it’s now time to BE the storm (to paraphrase that trendy quote about fate + the warrior)

like marshall goldsmith says: “what got you here won’t get you there”

and part of an intuition-driven life is recognizing when + where that may be true for you (without making yourself wrong from when it wasn’t)

i had my moment in meditation yesterday, when this directive to “be ruthless” came through

but make no mistake, it wasn’t a call to start being a dick

here’s what i built the message out to:

be ruthless in the pursuit + welcoming in of your joyful, deep-reaching abundance

which means…

quit settling for so-so + understanding the struggle

get fierce on your own behalf —

and that of your limitless delight

you are the most abundant, glorious, powerful light

and it’s time to click in, mount up, and ALIGN

to be the whole soul expression of your magic in bodied form

to be kind, yes — as long as it doesn’t keep you from killing off the circumstantial parasites that have gotten far too comfortable feeding off you

i’m going through this process myself, and damn do i love supporting others through it, too

give a shout if you think i can help

and go fucking get em, bloom

hey, banana candy. sometimes the action is nothing more than acknowledgement i’ve had that sentence written in my phone for the past few weeks — from something i said on one of my inner sanctum community calls, that i wanted to share with you because sometimes the next best step isn’t a step at all and sometimes the doing isn’t easy to see, doesn’t lend itself to satisfying checks marked off a list sometimes it’s to pause, face, absorb, accept to exist with to allow to season + spice a...

hey, almond joy. so first of all, i can’t stop laughing at how bad i’m dating myself with the subject line — let me know if you get it lol but seriously… sometimes self-trust looks like staying on hold for 25 freaking minutes — even though you’re up against a deadline + could use every last minute you’ve got to meet it but this thiiiing has been hanging over your head for mooooonths which might make you wonder if one more day would really be the end of the world but all of a sudden, you just...

hey, strawberry sorbet. one of my newest passions is collaborating with brilliant makers + masters of their craft to create products that support that intuition-driven, thriveandbloom life because what i lack in artistic skill i make up for in desire, ideas + enthusiasm :) and my very first collab, fittingly, is with annya white-brown + naturalannie essentials (where i’ve been leading candle classes for the past year-plus!) i dreamt up the scent combos + team NAE whipped up the candles for...
