how to go with the flow without being a pushover

hey, salty sunflower seed.

listen — plans change, life happens, clients cancel calls (friends do, too)

and honestly? that used to bother the fuck outta me

not because i had a problem with change (i didn’t + don’t.) it just felt so damn inconsiderate, ya know?

my schedule was kind of a beast, so saying YES to this thing often meant saying NO to several others (and shifting a few more around)

when someone canceled even a day or two before a meeting or event, i would often feel so put out — like, did they even UNDERSTAND what it took to make + protect this plan in the first place?

(probably not. because i didn’t want them to! how gross lol. and yet, there i was still feeling put out by it. humans are wild, yeah?)

anyway, i’ve grown in all sorts of ways around this — i know sometimes shit just happens + it’s not always personal, i architect my days to include more spaciousness, i’m more selective with the people i do make plans with + what i offer up as possible

i’ve also leaned into the magic of missed plans + the wisdom in moved meetings — and that’s been such a freaking gamechanger

i know i’m not supposed to say this, but back when i was a teacher i LIVED for snow days

not because i loved the disruption to our schedule, my lesson plans, or student learning, of course

but because they felt like these sweet little gifts of surprise free time. and that felt magical

once i started viewing reschedules + cancellations like that, my days started to feel…. lighter. diviner. more free. more joyful

when someone misses a call, i take a moment to consider what wants to be done in this time that is now free — to notice what calls or comes to mind, to take that as guidance instead of circumstance, wisdom within coincidence

what if this space was carved out just for me, by some sacred essence, to open a door to something even more aligned + right right now?

oooooh, what IF?

whether you believe in a particular higher power or something a bit more fluid, you can open yourself up to the wonder + delight of what if

you don’t have to name it or understand it in order to have faith in it, or to try some faith on for size

the secret to going with the flow of things like last minute meeting moves is knowing your boundaries + having some structure in place for holding them

if it feels shitty to be stuck at your desk waiting all day, set a policy that you intentionally refer to regularly, so no one’s taken by surprise when they show up 20 minutes late + you’re nowhere to be found

you might even have a template email or text ready to send after 5 minutes, reminding them of the meeting + letting them know you’ll be moving on with your day if you don’t hear from them in 10

anything that allows you to take the missed moment as an opportunity for something new — without worry, wasted time + energy, or stress

intuition-driven decisionmaking isn’t just windchimes + glitterbombs

it’s a deeply personal + sacred practice that honors your own wisdom + discernment as well as opens to the possibility of the same from something more

and it’s nurtured, fortified + amplified by clear boundaries that are lovingly + firmly held

that balance is infused into all the work i do with clients — whether that’s on a 1:1 call, in our inner sanctum community, in partner program work + support, or even the copywriting for your emails, communities, or workshop content

if you’ve been wanting to explore how we could work together, i invite you to set up a free possibilities call so we can chat about it

and if you already know you’re ready, hit reply + ask for the BTS super special offer i’m sharing on a very limited basis —

it’s only valid for the next two days (or through friday with an arranged agreement)

whether you want:

  • coaching + support around intuition-driven decisionmaking in your life + biz
  • partner program copy or consulting
  • launch or swipe copy creation, or
  • a course or workshop audit...

i’ve got something amazing for you!

the kind of nuanced insight + expertise i bring to our work as an educator, teacher leader, and small biz power player ensures that your own inner wisdom + brilliance is supported in a beautifully whole + strategic way

talk soon, bloom

xxoo, cc

ps: even this email is brought to you by the power of going with the flow + trusting the wisdom in small things. i had an early morning coffee date with a dear old friend planned this morning, but a family emergency meant they had to cancel last night

when i asked myself what wanted to happen in the space that was now free, i ALMOST defaulted to try to fill it with things that made logical sense. but i caught myself, and what came through next was how i’ve been wanting to write an email to you

before i was any of the things i am now, i was a writer. writing fuels me, self-expression is my breath. it’s always a balancing act of doing the biz things + doing the soul things, and when i’m most in the zone, they overlap

so i sat myself down with the intention of sharing something hopefully useful with you, and this is what came out

this is my blend of business + soul today. would love to know what, if anything, landed for you xxoo xxoo

hey, cracklin' oat. one surefire way to stop feeling like life is passing you by is to go ahead + meet me in the middle today is the last day of the first half of the year! we’re in the middle, and it’s a great time to pause, take stock, and slow the roller coaster down for a bit to reflect without intentionally taking space to ground into a moment + look back at how far you’ve come, it’s wayyyyyyy too easy to get unmoored from what’s important to you, caught up in other people’s drama, and...

hey, butterscotch pop. yesterday i planned on doing a side job, but felt called to something else instead intuitive cues came by way of a shifted weather forecast + a sense of what i felt more lit up to do instead and listen — sometimes there are absolutely things we must do at certain times. intuition-driven decisionmaking isn’t about avoiding those it’s about, when there’s room (and when you can make room), allowing yourself to stop fighting your longings + start following them confidently...

hey, cilantro salad. first of all... today is juneteenth and if, like mine, your ancestry doesn't include the experience of chattel enslavement — it's not too late to do as blair imani suggested in this IG post today: take the day ON instead of the day OFF — to take action, learn more, and think about how your privilege may come from other peoples’ suffering, in the past or present here's what else was on my mind today... winsday wednesday or thursday thrillsday — in my community for...
