hey, maple bacon.
real talk…
if you tell me i only have 20 minutes to do a thing, most of that time will be spent in utter angst, trying to manage my anxiety enough to focus on actually doing the thing
i’ll either get it done (but under such duress that i wanna blow off whatever i was supposed to do next) or i’ll find some possibly unconventional way to extend the timeline to allow me to do the damn thing in my fullest enthusiasm, attention + magic
SO WHY IN THE WORLD DID I CREATE A TWENTY-MINUTE CALL FEATURE IN MY INNER SANCTUM COMMUNITY, FOR EVERY MEMBER, EVERY SINGLE MONTH?
well… because they WORK
because time is precious + so is the chance to regularly connect with you one-on-one
because i wanted to balance the hour-long group calls you get every WEEK with some individual care —
without adding a bunch more time to your schedule (or needing to boost the price of membership)
but you KNOW i certainly wasn’t going to create a structure that all but ensured my anxiety + possibly incurred the same for you
i struggled with this for quite a while back when i dreamt up the UPRISING inner sanctum
until i came up with this super simple solution:
i pad our timeblocks with 10 extra minutes
our meetings are scheduled for 30 minutes, with the intention to end in 20 but the freedom to go a little longer
sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t
but we always CAN
(BTW: the best remedy for anything you feel claustrophobic or constricted around… is SPACIOUSNESS. just sayin'...)
with those 10 extra minutes, there’s no risk of abrupt call endings, and i’m totally freed up to focus on YOU + whatever you bring to the call
and because the calls ARE on the shorter side, we both come ready to dive right in
that one small change changes everything!
here’s a quick (privacy-respecting) peek into the last 4 calls i had this week, to give you a sense of the range of topics (and outcomes) available
on call 1 we explored how fear of getting stuck in a routine might be holding them back from a great new professional opportunity
5 of cups (upright) | the lightseer’s tarot by chris-anne donnelly
the card we pulled called attention to a heaviness she was ready to feel safe enough to release, connected her to a deep desire for ease that the opportunity provided, and inspired her to pay close attention to where she’s putting her focus + energy

the next member came to their call too overwhelmed with all that had been going on in the world + the day to have any real idea of what topic to explore — so we went with a general open-ended inquiry, welcoming in whatever wisdom wanted to come through
torn between both decks at hand, they decided to pull one from each. together those cards started to tell a story that needed more time to unfold. the first card represented the present, being on the downhill side of a long, challenging journey, and illuminated a quality of being well-resourced for it
the second card may reveal insight around either where the journey of the first card began or where it’s headed… this is a reflection still in process, but the grounding of the first card was reassuring + comforting, and it’ll be exciting to see what else comes from that particular pairing of cards

we didn’t pull a card at all on the third call of the day, choosing instead to talk biz strategy around Q4 plans, and how to stay grounded in them when constraints around time + money abound. they left with validation around the work they’ve already been doing, clarity around how + where to simplify, and an outreach strategy that felt like a refreshingly + necessarily light lift for a very powerful message
8 of voices (in reverse) | the muse tarot by chris-anne donnelly
the final call of the day looked for support + guidance around navigating a newly-uncovered perspective around a big life plan, and both physically + emotionally catching up to the transition
the card pulled strongly reflected how stuck + torn they had been feeling, and that it was pulled in reverse underscored the shift in mindset that had already taken place, showing how that could in turn actually shift the quality of their experience
i’ve kept things a bit vague here in order to preserve member privacy, but hope this begins to give you a sense of how these calls can give you what you need in a short amount of time!

hey, lime slice. the other day i wrote the following sentence: in small pockets of time i can get creatively constricted, painfully aware of the quickly approaching start time of what’s next a part of me REALLY wanted the alliteration + drama that would’ve come with substituting the word “cripplingly” for “painfully” — creatively constricted, cripplingly aware not gonna lie… i really love how that flows but you know what? a much BIGGER part of me cares that using a derivative of the word...
hey, sugarshaker. when you don’t really want to do a thing, you’ll crumble at the first obstacle to doing it that comes sure… you’ll feel shitty about bailing, but only just a little bit less than you feel relief at no longer being bound to do it in your belly or wherever you feel your emotions in your body, you may know the raucous duel between the sweet release of relief + the tight tension of guilt, shame + self-judgment and maybe you’ve forgotten that that’s not as good as it gets… that...
