is how you do anything really how you do everything?

hey, lemon pie.

how you do anything is how you do everything…

i’ve never been a fan of the phrase

coaches trying to establish themselves as the expert love to throw it about as a way of telling you — when you don’t follow THEIR rules around discipline, consistency + success — that you need to get your shit together

that the problem is you

that you’d meet with the success you yearn for if you’d just ignore your nature + do what they tell you to do

(because they know best, obvi)

and if you sneeze, you might not even realize that they’ve become one more voice telling you how “not enough” you are

and not just in x y or z way…

but across all the things — how FUNDAMENTALLY not enough you are

(to them. until you pay them to fix you, natch)

and because you’ve been raised in this culture of everyone else knows better than you, it probably looks like wisdom + sounds like truth

this supposed tough love expertise kickstarts the ages-old negative selftalk in your head

the voices of your mother sister teacher tabloid rival lost lover or some other…

melding with the voice you’ve claimed as your own that’s really just sharp loud echoes of theirs

the voice that’s lost connection to the much more wise + true source of something more within you

but it’s still there, bloom

and it’s aching for you to speak it like a sonnet + a song —

to let yourself trust yourself at least as much as everyone else

to dare to believe that you CAN have it all

that it’s not naïve to want to live a life + grow a business that honors the brilliant, unique starburst that you are

and how you do anything is how you do everything, love

you do how you do with such magic + wonder, such utter delight

even in the face of the absurd, the aching, the atrocious, the audaciously oaken

the way you show up in this life, as who you fundamentally, unapologetically are —

the way you stand on business for what you value most

the way you’ll be damned if you let anyone try to tell you that joy belongs on weekends + holidays and work is meant to be soddenly slogged through

this is what you’re here for

this is why you’ve chosen paths others fear

you aren’t like everyone else

you get to organize your day how you wish

and if you’ve forgotten how this feels in your bones…

hey, crunchy peanut butter cup. you know i’m not here to explain HOW these quickie card readings manage to bring you *just* what you didn’t even know you needed that i’m not going to try to PROVE that they work or barrage you with EVIDENCE that they do that the SCIENCE, frankly, doesn’t interest me much the whole premise of intuition-driven decisionmaking is that you KNOW so much more than you give yourself credit for so much more than you ALLOW yourself to own as truth and if you’re curious,...

hey, pickled pepper. please stop saying “no worries” when no one has apologized — specifically, when you ask someone to do something, and they say NO to your invite or request i mean sure, most NOs from halfway decent people these days DO come with an automatic side of apology but that doesn’t mean they should. or that you should assume they do and i’m all about shifting those defaults, one client, reader, friend at a time assuming apologies reinforces the idea that we should ignore our own...
